Vision and Priorities
Our Vision is the dream we have for the life we want to lead and world we want to live in. God is the source of our inspiration but our Vision gives us a picture to work with...
We believe that God's hope is for a world in which every person can flourish and that as Christians we are committed to making that hope a reality.
Given this Vision, our Mission is a statement of what we are and what we want to achieve:
- We are the Anglican church serving all the communities in and around Market Bosworth
- We will work with and within these communities to promote human flourishing
- We will reflect God's love in outreach, witness, service and care for the environment
The Vision and Mission are relatively stable. But we need always to be working to live up to them. Therefore, we regularly review our Strategic Objectives to ensure we have the right priorities.
Strategic Objectives and our goals for 2009-2010
- We need to widen and deepen our ministry to schools and young people
Our communities are blessed with many local schools where social skills and a sense of belonging to a community are fostered. We wish to show our commitment to the all important next generation, sharing the joy of God's message of love through Jesus Christ as well as learning from their own views of God and life. - We must engage with our communities in a programme of Faith in Action
Churches are held in a special place in the community and we aim to be a leading and influential force within these communities, responding to God's call for a people of justice and mercy who care for the poor, disadvantaged and outcast in society. - We must have good internal and external communications
We want both to improve the quality of our communicating and the variety of ways in which we communicate. We must also strive for consistency in our messages and efficiency in getting the message through. We want to build on our use of the Insight and Gazette magazines and the weekly pew leaflets. One recent innovation has been the development of our website launched in June 2008. - We must nurture people resources to resource our Strategic Plan
Everyone who comes to church or is linked with our work is contributing to the life of the church. But our development and growth would come to nothing without encouraging, recruiting and training adequate numbers of people to resource our plans. - We need each PCC/DCC to value our buildings as a resource to our Mission and not a drain
We aim to make our buildings user-friendly for all sorts of people and organisations across our communities. We recognise our responsibilities to care for our heritage. But we also realise we no longer wish to be absorbed by dealing with buildings at the expense of our service to God. - We must place our finances on a simplified and sound footing
We have inherited a complex legacy of church organisational structures that provided for 13 churches as separate entities or smaller groupings. We need to simplify this to provide sound housekeeping to allow us to use our resources well. - We need effective governance and explicit and clearly owned processes
We have inherited a complex legacy of church organisational structures that provided for 13 churches as separate entities or smaller groupings. We want to grow together, making clear and steady progress towards our Vision with structures and processes that are both efficient and effective.
